Amazon product API for 23 marketplaces

Amazon Data API returns Amazon product data as JSON: search results, product details by ASIN, ratings and review highlights, seller offers, deals and best-seller rankings. It is sold on RapidAPI, and the free plan covers 100 requests a month.

12 endpoints

Every endpoint takes a country parameter. Results come back in the marketplace’s language and prices in its currency.

Product details by ASIN

Pass an ASIN and a country code to /product-details. The response holds everything public on the product page: title, brand, price, list price, images, rating, ratings count, availability, badges, bullet points, the product details table and category breadcrumbs.

meta.cached says whether the result came from cache and meta.fetched_at says when Amazon’s page was read. For Node there is also an MIT-licensed client: npm install amazon-data-api.

An alternative to PA-API 5

Amazon’s deprecation notice says PA-API 5 “has been deprecated and is being replaced by the Creators API”. Applications that still call it “receive an HTTP 403 Forbidden response with an AccessDeniedException”. The Creators API requires you to “have at least 10 qualifying sales within the past 30 days”. A catalog site, price tracker or research tool that does not drive Associates sales cannot meet that bar. Amazon Data API needs only a RapidAPI key. If you earn Associates commissions, check your Associates agreement before using any non-Amazon data source.

Is there a free Amazon product API plan?

Yes. The free plan on RapidAPI includes 100 requests a month. RapidAPI asks for a card even on free plans.

Is this the official Amazon Product Advertising API?

No. Amazon Data API is a third-party service that reads Amazon’s public product pages and returns JSON. It is not affiliated with Amazon.

How do I get product details by ASIN?

Call GET /product-details with the 10-character ASIN and an optional country code. Case and surrounding spaces in the ASIN are ignored, and country defaults to US.

Which country code is the United Kingdom?

Use GB for amazon.co.uk. UK is not a valid country code.

What happens when a field is missing on the product page?

Fields Amazon does not show for a product come back as null. price is null when the product is unavailable, so check it before doing arithmetic.
